These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of DataSeal.net ("DataSeal", "the Service", "we", "us"), operated by Codework Labs, Sydney, NSW, Australia("Operator"). References to DataSeal, dataseal.net, and the Operator include their officers, employees, contractors, and affiliates to the fullest extent permitted by law.
By creating an account, accessing the Service, or using any feature (including public proof pages, downloads, or the Developer API), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Operator and contact
- Operator: Codework Labs
- Service: DataSeal.net (dataseal.net)
- Address: Sydney, NSW, Australia
2. Service description
DataSeal provides cryptographic timestamping and proof-of-existence tools. We may generate SHA-256 fingerprints, optionally store payloads, and anchor metadata to public blockchains. The Service produces technical evidence records only. It is not legal advice, not a court filing, not identity verification, not a guarantee of ownership, authorship, or originality, and does not replace professional legal counsel, contracts, or regulatory compliance.
3. Your responsibilities and user content
You are solely responsible for everything you upload, timestamp, share, download, or otherwise process through the Service ("User Content"), and for how you and others use your proofs.
- Maintain your own backups of all files, encryption keys, proof packages, and records.
- Keep account credentials and API keys secure.
- Ensure you have all rights needed to timestamp, store, and share User Content.
- Comply with all applicable laws in your jurisdiction.
- Do not use the Service for unlawful, harmful, infringing, defamatory, or abusive material, or to harm others.
Codework Labs and dataseal.net do not control, endorse, verify (beyond technical fingerprint matching), or accept responsibility for User Content or for any dispute between users or third parties arising from the Service.
4. No liability for platform use or user activity
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Codework Labs, DataSeal, and dataseal.net are not liable for any claim, loss, damage, cost, or expense arising out of or related to:
- User Content, including its accuracy, legality, safety, or fitness for any purpose
- How any person uses, relies on, shares, or misuses proofs, certificates, or fingerprints
- Disputes between users, or between a user and any third party
- Public proof pages, shared links, downloads, malware, or files obtained via the Service
- Lost encryption keys, lost originals (especially hash-only mode), or inability to decrypt
- Data loss, corruption, outages, bugs, or discontinuation of the Service
- Blockchain network behaviour, delays, forks, fees, or explorer information
- Third-party services (including authentication, hosting, email, and payments)
- Any business, legal, regulatory, or personal decision made in reliance on the Service
You use the Service entirely at your own risk. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Operator from claims arising from your User Content or your use of the Service, except to the extent liability cannot be excluded under applicable law.
5. Data retention and availability
We strive to maintain reliable storage and database services, but we do not guarantee permanent availability of your data. In the event of database loss, infrastructure failure, account termination, or service discontinuation, your stored payloads, metadata, and account records may be permanently lost.
Blockchain anchors (transaction IDs and on-chain fingerprints) may persist independently of our database, but recovery of full proof context without our records may be difficult or impossible. You are solely responsible for independent backups of files, encryption keys, proof packages, and certificate links.
6. Encryption keys
For encrypted mode, encryption keys are generated and held by you in the browser. We do not store your decryption keys. If you lose your key, encrypted payloads cannot be recovered by DataSeal or Codework Labs.
7. Public proof pages and downloads
Proof page links are unlisted but accessible to anyone with the URL. When download is enabled, visitors may retrieve files or archives provided by the proof owner. Those files are User Content. DataSeal does not scan, review, endorse, or vouch for downloaded content. Cryptographic fingerprint matching (where shown) confirms that bytes match a published hash; it is not a guarantee of safety, legality, accuracy, or fitness for any purpose.
You are responsible for inspecting files before opening them and for verifying they match the published fingerprint when that matters to you.
By downloading any file or payload from the Service, you agree to these Terms, including the limitations of liability in sections 3 and 4 relating to User Content, malware, and files obtained via the Service. See also our Privacy Policy.
8. Credits, billing, and subscriptions
Credit purchases and subscriptions are subject to the pricing displayed at time of purchase (and confirmed on the Stripe Checkout page). Credits are consumed when proofs are created. One-time credit packs are generally non-refundable once credits have been delivered to your account. Developer subscriptions renew monthly until cancelled; you may cancel anytime via the billing portal, and access continues until the end of the paid period. If a payment is refunded or successfully disputed, we may reverse the corresponding credits from your balance. For billing questions, contact us using the details in section 1 (Operator and contact).
9. Disclaimer of warranties
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR THAT PROOFS WILL BE ACCEPTED BY ANY COURT, regulator, or third party.
10. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CODEWORK LABS, DATASEAL, DATASEAL.NET, AND THEIR OPERATORS ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, GOODWILL, BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY, ENCRYPTION KEYS, OR ACCESS TO PROOF RECORDS, WHETHER ARISING FROM DATABASE FAILURE, SERVICE OUTAGE, USER ERROR, USER CONTENT, THIRD-PARTY CONDUCT, OR ANY OTHER CAUSE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
WHERE LIABILITY CANNOT BE FULLY EXCLUDED, OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR AUD $100, WHICHEVER IS LESS (OR THE MINIMUM AMOUNT REQUIRED BY LAW IF GREATER).
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits rights that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law or other non-excludable laws. Where such rights apply, our liability is limited to resupply of the services or payment of the cost of resupply, to the extent permitted.
11. Account termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, or for any other reason at our discretion where permitted by law. You may request account deletion through Settings. Deletion may not remove blockchain anchors already broadcast.
12. Changes
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Subject to any non-excludable rights, disputes shall be resolved in the courts of New South Wales.
